Product Characteristics: The AssayMax Human Complement C6 ELISA kit is designed for detection of C6 in human plasma, serum, saliva, urine, milk, and cell culture samples. This assay employs a quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique that measures C6 in less than 4 hours. A polyclonal antibody specific for C6 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. C6 in standards and samples is sandwiched by the immobilized antibody and a biotinylated polyclonal antibody specific for C6, which is recognized by a streptavidin-peroxidase conjugate. All unbound material is then washed away and a peroxidase enzyme substrate is added. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Target Information: This gene encodes a component of the complement cascade. The encoded protein is part of the membrane attack complex that can be incorporated into the cell membrane and cause cell lysis. Mutations in this gene are associated with complement component-6 deficiency. Transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]
