Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the direct competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique.Antibody specific for fibrinogen has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells with biotin-conjugated fibrinogen. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between fibrinogen (Standards or samples) and biotin-conjugated fibrinogen with the pre-coated fibrinogen antibody. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in opposite to the amount of fibrinogen bound in the initial step.
