Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase isoenzyme 1, is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PDK1 gene. To find human PDKs, Gudi et al.(1995) used oligonucleotide primers to screen a human liver cDNA library by PCR. They identified and reported the deduced amino acid sequences of PDK1, PDK2, and PDK3.
