MBS223880 specifically recognises an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of endothelin B receptor (ET-B), a widely distributed transmembrane protein and member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family, which acts as a non-specific receptor for endothelin 1, 2, and 3, and mediates its action by G protein association and activation of a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. MBS223880 recognizes epitopes on the cytoplasmic side of the receptor and therefore the cell membrane must be permeable to the antibody. MBS223880 does not block the binding of endothelins. MBS223880 is reported as suitable for use in immunocytochemistry on acetone fixed cells
