MUNC18-2 (Syntaxin-binding protein 2; STXBP2, Unc18-2, Unc18B) is a 64-66kD member of the SNARE-interacting Sec1/Unc18/STXBP family of proteins. It is widely expressed, particularly in hematopoietic cells, and is found both in cytoplasm, and associated with membranes, where it binds to STX1A, 2 and 3. Thus, it presumably participates in primary granule exocytosis by promoting granule fusion. Human STXBP2 is 593aa in length. It contains one SEC1 domain (aa28-576) with Trp28, Ser42 and Glu59 all playing a key role in syntaxin binding. There is one splice variant that shows a deletion of aa83-85.
