Potent, cell-permeable and reversible proteasome inhibitor. Inhibits the chymotrypsin-like activity of the pituitary multicatalytic proteinase complex. Does not inhibit the peptidylglutamyl-peptide hydrolyzing activity of MPC. Blocks decay of I?B-a and I?B-beta in exponentially growing WEHI-231 cells.
