Background: IKBKG(Inhibitor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B cells, kinase of, gamma) is also known as NEMO. The IKK complex is composed of IKK-alpha, IKK-beta, and 2 other polypeptides of 50 and 52 kD which are differentially processed forms of a third subunit, IKK-gamma. The 419-amino acid IKK-gamma protein is composed of several potential coiled-coil motifs and a leucine zipper motif. NEMO interacted with IKK2(IKK-beta), but not with IKK1(IKK-alpha).
