Ribosomal protein S6 (rpS6), a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit, is involved in multiple cellular bioactivities. RPS6 is a downstream substrate of PI3K/Akt/mTOR/ kinase and MAPK kinase pathways and its dephosphorylation is also triggered by DNA double-strand breaks.
