RNF180 is a recently discovered member of the RNF family-an E3 ubiquitin ligase that reportedly participates in proliferation and differentiation. Rines/RNF180 is well conserved among vertebrates. The hypermethylation of ring finger protein (RNF) 180 DNA promoter is significantly associated with lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer. RNF180 is capable of inhibiting lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer by suppressing the intracellular activation of malignant molecular signals. RNF180 has been identified as a novel tumor suppressor in gastric cancer and the methylated CpG site count of RNF180 DNA promoter can predict the prognosis for gastric cancer patients. RNF180 may be a target for future therapeutic intervention
