Description
RITA1 (RBPJ Interacting And Tubulin Associated 1) is a Protein Coding gene. The RITA1 gene, located on 12q24.13, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, and frog. RITA1 has been identified as a negative modulator of the Notch pathway and as a microtubule-associated protein important for cell migration and invasion. RITA1 shuttles between the cytoplasm and the nucleus and mediates the nuclear export of RBPJ/RBPSUH, thereby preventing the interaction between RBPJ/RBPSUH and NICD product of Notch proteins (Notch intracellular domain), leading to down-regulate Notch-mediated transcription. RITA1 is widely expressed in the kidney, liver, and other tissues. Diseases associated with RITA1 include Anus Cancer. 148 organisms have orthologs with the human gene RITA1
