Description
GNPNAT1 (Glucosamine-Phosphate N-Acetyltransferase 1) is a Protein Coding gene. The GNPNAT1 gene, located on 14q22.1, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, and rat, etc. GNPNAT1 is a member of the GNA1 subfamily of the larger acetyltransferase family of proteins. Glucosamine 6-phosphate N-acetyltransferase, encoded by the highly conserved gene GNPNAT1, is one of the enzymes required for the synthesis of uridine diphosphate N-acetylglucosamine, which participates in protein glycosylation. GNPNAT1 is widely expressed in the liver, colon, and other tissues. Diseases associated with GNPNAT1 include Griscelli Syndrome, Type 3. Among its related pathways are Transport to the Golgi and subsequent modification and Metabolism of proteins
