Description
Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 3C (PPP1R3C) is a new hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) targeted gene and is regulated by HIF-1 under hypoxic conditions. Overexpression of PPP1R3C increases glycogen accumulation through the activation of several enzymes and processes. PPP1R3C modulates glycogen metabolism, particularly glycogen synthesis. PPP1R3C, a novel hypermethylated gene in CRC, may play a critical role in cancer cell growth in association with glucose levels, and may also play an important role in the tolerance of C. batrachus to hypoxia. PPP1R3C methylation or its combined use of EFHD1 methylation was highly positive in colorectal cancer (CRC) plasma samples, and they might be useful in the detection of CRC, especially for early-stage CRCs
