Description
TNXB (Tenascin XB) is a Protein Coding gene. The TNXB gene is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, and frog. This gene encodes a member of the tenascin family of extracellular matrix glycoproteins. The TNXB gene has antiadhesive effects, functions in matrix maturation in connective tissues, and localizes to the major histocompatibility complex class III region. It is one of four genes in this cluster that have been duplicated. The duplicated copy of this gene is incomplete and is a pseudogene that is transcribed but does not encode a protein. TNXB is widely expressed in adrenal, fat, and other tissues. Diseases associated with TNXB include Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Classic-Like, and Vesicoureteral Reflux 8
