Tumor protein D52-like 2 (TPD52L2, also known as hD54 in previous studies) is one member of the TPD52 family, which has been shown to function in mediating cell proliferation, apoptosis, and vehicle trafficking. TPD52 was originally identified in human breast carcinoma. TPD52L2 and its family members form homo- and heteromeric complexes essential for cell proliferation in multiple human cancers. TPD52L2 is involved in cell migration and attachment in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). TPD52L2 plays an essential role in the growth of breast cancer cells, which may contribute to providing gene therapy for breast cancer treatment. TPD52L2 might promote gastric carcinogenesis, and could be a promising target for developing new therapeutic strategies to treat gastric cancer
