Nescient helix-loop-helix 2 (NHLH2/NSCL2) is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor family and is expressed in developing and adult neuroendocrine tissues such as the pituitary and hypothalamus. NHLH2 is involved in several biological and pathological pathways, such as motivated exercise, obesity, and diabetes.
