Description
PSMA1 (Proteasome 20S Subunit Alpha 1) is a Protein Coding gene. The PSMA1 gene, located on 11p15.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, and rat, etc. This gene encodes a member of the peptidase T1A family, which is a 20S core alpha subunit. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. PSMA1 is widely expressed in the appendix, placenta, and other tissues. Diseases associated with PSMA1 include Cystic Fibrosis and Alzheimer's Disease. PSMA1 is the direct target gene of miR-27a in pancreatic cancer and is considered as a potential biomarker for HBV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma.
