The CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein-alpha (CEBPA) is a lineage-specific transcription factor in the hematopoietic system. The presence of biallelic CEBPA mutations is a favourable prognostic feature in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). CEBPA mutations are currently identified through conventional capillary sequencing (CCS). Mutations in CCAAT/enhancer binding protein alpha (CEBPA) occur in 5-10% of cases of acute myeloid leukemia.
