Description

MRM3 (Mitochondrial rRNA Methyltransferase 3, also known as RMTL1) is a Protein Coding gene. The MRM3 gene, located on 17p13.3, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, fruit fly, mosquito, and frog. MRM3 belongs to the class IV-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily. MRM2 (also known as RRMJ2, encoded by FTSJ2) and MRM3 are human mitochondrial methyltransferases involved in the modification of 16S rRNA and are important factors for the biogenesis and function of the large subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome. Diseases associated with MRM3 include 3-Methylcrotonyl-Coa Carboxylase 1 Deficiency. Among its related pathways are rRNA processing in the mitochondrion and Gene Expression
