The high mRNA levels for Seven in Absentia Homolog 2 (SIAH2) correlated with high Estrogen Receptor (ER) mRNA levels and with longer progression-free survival (PFS) after first-line tamoxifen. The seven in absentia homolog 2 (SIAH2) protein plays a significant role in human cancer by regulating hypoxia-inducible factor-a (HIF-1alpha). Seven in Absentia Homolog 2 (SIAH2), an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase, has been shown to be associated with resistance to antiestrogens.
