Description

PAPOLA (Poly(A) Polymerase Alpha) is a Protein Coding gene. The PAPOLA gene, located on 14q32.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, C.elegans, A.thaliana, rice, and frog. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the poly(A) polymerase family. It is required for the addition of adenosine residues for the creation of the 3'-poly(A) tail of mRNAs. PAPOLA binds to FIP1L1 (Factor interacting with PAPOLA and CPSF1), a subunit of the cleavage and polyadenylation specificity factor subunit 1 (CPSF1) complex. This complex polyadenylates the 3' end of precursor mRNAs (pre-mRNA). Diseases associated with PAPOLA include 46, Xx Sex Reversal 3. The related pathways of PAPOLA are Cleavage of Growing Transcript in the Termination Region and Gene Expression
