Description

ITGAV (Integrin Subunit Alpha V) is a Protein Coding gene. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate light and heavy chains that comprise the alpha V subunit. The subunit associates with beta 1, beta 3, beta 5, beta 6, and beta 8 subunits. The members of the integrin alpha V (ITGAV) family are widely expressed on many types of tumors and have been reported to be involved in angiogenesis, tumor metastases, and multicellular radioresistance. Recently, it has been shown that the polymorphism of the integrin-alpha V subunit encoded by the ITGAV gene plays a role in angiogenesis and is considered as RA susceptibility loci. The integrin alpha(v)beta3, whose alpha(v) subunit is encoded by the ITGAV gene, plays a key role in angiogenesis
