Description
MAPK6 (Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase 6) is a Protein Coding gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and is most closely related to mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAP kinases). MAPK signaling is a critical pathway in many biological processes. MAPK6 is most highly expressed in liver cancer samples. A divergent lncRNA (long non-coding RNA) of MAPK6, termed lncMAPK6 here, is also overexpressed along with liver tumorigenesis. It was the most highly expressed MAPK component in liver cancer and liver TICs and lncMAPK6 participated in the transcriptional regulation of MAPK6in cis. MAPK6 is widely expressed in the testis, brain, and other tissues. Diseases associated with MAPK6 include Pulmonary Immaturity and Breast Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma
