Description
CCDC114 (coiled-coil domain containing 114), located on chromosome 19q13.3, represented an excellent functional candidate, being the human gene orthologous to Chlamydomonas DCC2, which encodes an axonemal outer dynein arm microtubule-docking complex subunit. The CCDC114 gene is related to the biogenesis of cilia and attachment of the outer dynein arms (ODAs) to the axoneme of cilia. Mutations in the CCDC114 gene are reported to cause a subtype of primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) named ciliary dyskinesia, primary, 20 (CILD20)
