MRPS15 (Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein S15) is a Protein Coding gene. The MRPS15 gene, located on 1p34.3, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog. MRPS15 belongs to the universal ribosomal protein uS15 family. This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein that belongs to the ribosomal protein S15P family. The encoded protein is more than two times the size of its E Coli counterpart, with the 12S rRNA binding sites conserved. Between the human and mouse, the encoded protein is the least conserved among small subunit ribosomal proteins. MRPS15 is widely expressed in testis, fat, and other tissues.
