Description
TMEM106C (Transmembrane Protein 106C) is a Protein Coding gene. The TMEM106C gene, located on 12q13.11, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog. TMEM106C belongs to the TMEM106 family and is widely expressed in the colon, small intestine, and other tissues. 2 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. Diseases associated with TMEM106C include Asphyxia Neonatorum and Placenta Praevia. TMEM106C is differentially expressed in several human and porcine diseases. TMEM106C acts as an oncogene and can serve as a potential therapeutic target for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the future. 216 organisms have orthologs with the human gene TMEM106C
