Description
SPICE1 (also known as SPICE and CCDC52) is a centriole-associated protein and contains central and C-terminal coiled-coil domains. SPICE1 is a centriole-and spindle-associated protein implicated in regulating centriole number and length, as well as a role in spindle organization. SPICE1 is implicated in centriole duplication and elongation, spindle integrity, and chromosome alignment. While the SPICE1 N terminus contains the microtubule-binding region based on cellular localization, the C terminus appears as the regulatory region of the protein. Temporal and spatial Aurora kinase-mediated regulation of SPICE1 is important for correct chromosome segregation
