Description
PITPNB (Phosphatidylinositol Transfer Protein Beta) is a Protein Coding gene. The PITPNB gene, located on 22q12.1, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, fruit fly, mosquito, C.elegans, and frog. This gene encodes a cytoplasmic protein that catalyzes the transfer of phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylcholine between membranes. This transfer activity is required for COPI complex-mediated retrograde transport from the Golgi apparatus to the endoplasmic reticulum. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. Diseases associated with PITPNB include Cleft Soft Palate. Among its related pathways are Metabolism and Glycerophospholipid biosynthesis. 208 organisms have orthologs with the human gene PITPNB
