Description
UBXN6 (UBX Domain Protein 6) is a Protein Coding gene. The UBXN6 gene, located on 19p13, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, fruit fly, mosquito, C.elegans, and frog. UBXN6 may negatively regulate the ATPase activity of the valosin-containing protein (VCP). As a cofactor of VCP, it may play a role in the transport of CAV1 to lysosomes for degradation. It may also play a role in endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) of misfolded proteins. UBXN6 is widely expressed in the testis, kidney, and other tissues. Diseases associated with UBXN6 include Inclusion Body Myopathy With Paget Disease Of Bone And Frontotemporal Dementia and Multisystem Proteinopathy
