RABEPK (Rab9 Effector Protein With Kelch Motifs) is a Protein Coding gene. The RABEPK gene, located on 9q33.3, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, rice, and frog. An important paralog of this gene is HCFC1. RABEPK is a Rab9 effector required for endosome to trans-Golgi network (TGN) transport. RABEPK interacts preferentially with the active (GTP-bound) form of RAB9 GTPase and participates in mannose 6-phosphate receptor trafficking from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network (TGN). RABEPK is widely expressed in the liver, testis, and other tissues.
