Description

SNX31 (Sorting Nexin 31) is a Protein Coding gene. The SNX31 gene, located on 8q22.3, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, and frog. SNX31 is an endosomal regulator of beta integrins with a restricted expression pattern. The FERM-like domain-containing sorting nexin of the SNX17/SNX27/SNX31 family have been proposed to mediate retrieval of transmembrane proteins from the lysosomal pathway. The Phox-homology (PX) domain-containing proteins sorting nexin (SNX) 17, SNX27, and SNX31 have emerged as key regulators of endosomal recycling and bind conserved Asn-Pro-Xaa-Tyr-sorting signals in transmembrane cargos via an atypical band, 4.1/ezrin/radixin/moesin (FERM) domain. Diseases associated with SNX31 include Melanoma, Cutaneous Malignant 1
