Description
MRM1 (Mitochondrial RRNA Methyltransferase 1) is located on human chromosome 17q12. The MRM1 protein is ubiquitously expressed in spleen, lymph node, and other tissues. The MRM1 (also known as FLJ22578) gene is conserved in chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, C.elegans, etc. MRM1 is related to rRNA processing in the mitochondrion and gene expression. MRM1 protein has methyltransferase activity. An important paralog of this gene is TARBP1. MRM1 is associated with some diseases, including 3-Methylcrotonyl-Coa Carboxylase 1 Deficiency and Noonan Syndrome 4
