Description
The G-patch domain consists of a conserved pattern of glycines and is thought to possess RNA-binding affinity. Proteins containing G-patch domains, such as GPATCH2, are implicated in RNA processing. G-patch domain containing 2 (GPATC2, also termed CT110, GPATCH2, PPP1R30 and RP11-361K17.1) protein contains a G-patch domain with an RNA binding motif. Human GPATCH2 shares approximately 80% and 71% amino acid identity with its murine and Xenopus orthologs, respectively. GPATCH2 enhances the ATPase activity of DHX15 in vitro. GPATCH2 may play a role in spermatogenesis and in tumor growth during breast cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants
