Description
TEX264 (Testis Expressed 264, ER-Phagy Receptor) is a Protein Coding gene. The TEX264 gene, located on 3p21.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog. TEX264 is an ER protein with a single transmembrane domain and an LIR motif. TEX264 is an unrecognized endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-phagy receptor that acts independently of other candidate ER-phagy receptors to remodel the ER during nutrient stress. TEX264 interacts with LC3 and GABARAP family proteins more efficiently and is expressed more ubiquitously than previously known ER-phagy receptors. TEX264 is widely expressed in the testis, kidney, and other tissues. Diseases associated with TEX264 include Ruijs-Aalfs Syndrome
