Forkhead-box (FOX) family transcription factors are implicated in carcinogenesis and embryogenesis. Transcriptional factor FOXK1 is a member of the FOX family, involved in the cell growth and metabolism. The higher expression of FOXK1 leads to a variety of diseases and may play an important role in the development of various tumors. The co-expression of FOXK1 and FHL2 enhances cell proliferation and metastasis through the induction of EMT. FOXK1 may be a potential therapeutic target for human prostate cancer. FOXK1 may act as an oncogene in human HCC, and knockdown of FOXK1 significantly inhibited HCC cell proliferation, migration and invasion, partly through the inactivation of Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. That FOXK1 may be a novel therapeutic target to treat HCC. FOXK1 plays a key function in the ovarian cancer, it promotes cell proliferation and metastasis. FOXK1 serves as a novel molecular therapeutic target in ovarian cancer
