TSEN34 (TRNA Splicing Endonuclease Subunit 34) is a Protein Coding gene. The TSEN34 gene, located on 19q13.42, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, zebrafish, S.cerevisiae, K.lactis, E.gossypii, S.pombe, M.oryzae, N.crassa, and frog. This gene encodes a catalytic subunit of the tRNA splicing endonuclease, which catalyzes the removal of introns from precursor tRNAs. TSEN34 constitutes one of the two catalytic subunits of the tRNA-splicing endonuclease complex, a complex responsible for the identification and cleavage of the splice sites in pre-tRNA. TSEN34 is widely expressed in the testis, prostate, and other tissues. Diseases associated with TSEN34 include Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia, Type 2C, and Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia, Type 2E.
