Description
NDUFA2 (NADH: Ubiquinone Oxidoreductase Subunit A2) is a Protein Coding gene. The NDUFA2 gene, located on 5q31.3, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, and rat, etc. NDUFA2 belongs to the complex I NDUFA2 subunit family. The encoded protein is a subunit of the hydrophobic protein fraction of the NADH: ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex 1), the first enzyme complex in the electron transport chain located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, and may be involved in regulating complex I activity or its assembly via assistance in redox processes. Diseases associated with NDUFA2 include Mitochondrial Complex I Deficiency, Nuclear Type 13 and Leukoencephalopathy, Cystic, Without Megalencephaly. Among its related pathways are GABAergic synapse and Respiratory electron transport, ATP synthesis by chemiosmotic coupling, and heat production by uncoupling proteins
