Description
RABGGTA (Rab Geranylgeranyltransferase Subunit Alpha) is a Protein Coding gene. The RABGGTA gene, located on 14q11.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, zebrafish, fruit fly, mosquito, C.elegans, and frog. RABGGTA catalyzes the transfer of a geranylgeranyl moiety from geranylgeranyl diphosphate to both cysteines of Rab proteins with the C-terminal sequence -XXCC, -XCXC, and -CCXX, such as RAB1A, RAB3A, RAB5A, and RAB7A. RABGGTA is widely expressed in the esophagus, lung, and other tissues. Diseases associated with RABGGTA include Choroideremia and Pharynx Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Among its related pathways are TP53 Regulates Transcription of Cell Death Genes and Metabolism of proteins. 182 organisms have orthologs with the human gene RABGGTA
