Description
UBXN4 (UBX Domain Protein 4) is a Protein Coding gene. The UBXN4 gene, located on 2q21.3, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, C.elegans, and frog. UBXD2 is an integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) that binds valosin-containing protein (VCP) and promotes ER-associated protein degradation (ERAD). UBXD2 acts as a platform to recruit both UBQLN1 and VCP to the ER during ERAD. UBXN4 is widely expressed in the thyroid, gall bladder, and other tissues. Diseases associated with UBXN4 include Martsolf Syndrome. An important paralog of this gene is TNRC6A. 238 organisms have orthologs with the human gene UBXN4
