H2AZ1 (H2A.Z Variant Histone 1, also known as H2AFZ) is a Protein Coding gene. This gene encodes a replication-independent member of the histone H2A family that is distinct from other members of the family. H2AFZ gene may confer a risk for schizophrenia and contribute to the impairment of executive function in Han Chinese patients with schizophrenia. H2AFZ gene may be a susceptibility factor in male subjects with schizophrenia, and that modification of the H2AFZ signaling pathway warrants further study in terms of the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. H2AFZ is widely expressed in the bone marrow, lymph node, and other tissues. Diseases associated with H2AZ1 include Testicular Spermatocytic Seminoma and Floating-Harbor Syndrome
