Description
TFIID is a general transcription factor required for transcription of most protein-coding genes by RNA polymerase II. TATA-binding protein associated factor 7L (TAF7L) is an X-linked germ cell-specific paralogue of TAF7, which is a generally expressed component of TFIID. TAF7L is expressed through most of the male germ-cell differentiation program, but its intracellular localization is dynamically regulated from cytoplasmic in spermatogonia and early spermatocytes to nuclear in late pachytene spermatocytes and haploid round spermatids. TAF7L is an important regulator of white adipose tissue (WAT) differentiation. TAF7L plays an integral role in adipocyte gene expression by targeting enhancers as a cofactor for PPARgamma and promoters as a component of the core transcriptional machinery
