Optimizing the Extraction of High Molecular Weight DNA from Tissue

Webinar Date: July 30, 2020
Time: 10 am EST, 7am PST

Join us to learn about a high-throughput method for high-quality, high molecular weight DNA extraction from tissues using the Covaris cryoPREP dry pulverizer for tissue disruption and the Circulomics Nanobind Tissue Kit for DNA extraction. During this webinar, the process, which is described briefly here, will be thoroughly reviewed.

Compared to manual methods such LN2 grinding, the Covaris cryoPREP can cryofracture large numbers of samples with high reproducibility, no cross-contamination, and low user intervention. Then, the Circulomics Nanobind magnetic disks are used to extract HMW DNA from the cryofractured tissue powder. The extraction is a simple lyse-bind-wash elute procedure. The resulting DNA is very high molecular weight with high purity. Each Nanobind disk is covered with nanostructured silica that protects DNA from shearing to enable higher DNA size, extraction yield, and purity than the competing methods. This rapid and reproducible method, which can be completed in 2 hours, is easily scaled to accommodate large-scale studies and to underpin future clinical tests.

You will learn about:
  • Circulomics’ Nanobind technology and how to extract high molecular weight DNA from tissue samples using the Covaris cryoPREP for sample disruption.
  • Metrics to assess the quality of extracted DNA and present long read sequencing data of DNA extracted using cryoPREP and Nanobind.
  • Advantages of using cryoPREP for tissue disruption.
Who should attend:
  • Genomics researchers
  • Epigenomics researchers
  • Sequencing/ NGS lab managers and technicians
