Description

Principle of the assay: This assay is based on the competitive enzyme immunoassay for the detection of SM in the sample. The coupling antigens are pre-coated on the micro-well stripes. The SM in the sample and the coupling antigens pre-coated on the micro-well stripes compete for the anti-SM antibodies. After the addition of the enzyme conjugate, the TMB substrate is added for coloration. The optical density (OD) value of the sample has a negative correlation with the SM in it. This value is compared to the standard curve and the SM concentration is subsequently obtained.

Background: Streptomycin is an antibiotic (antimycobacterial) drug, the first of a class of drugs called aminoglycosides to be discovered, and it was the first effective treatment for tuberculosis. It is derived from the actinobacterium Streptomyces griseus. Streptomycin is a bactericidal antibiotic. Adverse effects of this medicine are ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, fetal auditory toxicity, and neuromuscular paralysis. It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, a list of the most important medication needed in a basic health system
