Description

Fibrin degradation products (FDPs), or fibrin split products, are blood components resulting from clot breakdown. Their levels increase following thrombotic events. The functions of fibrin degradation products in rabbits involve various aspects of vascular reactivity, thrombolysis, inflammatory regulation, increased vascular permeability, disease-associated coagulation states, and cell proliferation and migration. These functions suggest that FDP is biologically important in physiological and pathological processes in rabbits. Research using a rabbit model demonstrated that FDPs, specifically fragments D and E, inhibit the proliferation of smooth muscle cells
