Description
Inositol Triphosphate (IP3) is an inositol phosphate signaling molecule that plays a key role in signal transduction in biological cells. IP₃ is generated by the hydrolysis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP₂), a phospholipid primarily located in the plasma membrane. The enzyme responsible for this hydrolysis is phospholipase C (PLC). Together with diacylglycerol (DAG), IP₃ acts as a second messenger molecule in signal transduction
