Description

In rabbits, Interleukin 6 is encoded by the IL6 gene and is a cytokine involved in various biological functions such as immunity, tissue regeneration, and metabolism. It binds to IL6R, and this complex associates with the signaling subunit IL6ST/gp130 to activate the intracellular IL6-signaling pathway. When interacting with the membrane-bound IL6R and IL6ST, it initiates 'classic signaling.' In contrast, when IL6 and the soluble IL6R bind to IL6ST, it stimulates 'trans-signaling.' In the ileum of rabbits, the addition of 6% Artemisia argyi to the feed significantly reduced the levels of IL6. This suggests that IL6 may be associated with intestinal inflammation or immune response
