Description
In rabbits, the TNF gene encodes Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), previously referred to as TNF-α. It induces the production of other pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules. TNF-α is involved in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, such as atherosclerosis and heart failure. TNF-α can contribute to tissue remodeling processes. It also influences the activation and differentiation of immune cells. This chemical messenger, produced by the immune system, primarily by activated macrophages, induces inflammation by binding to specific receptors on other cells
