Description
Syndecan 1 is a type I transmembrane heparan sulfate proteoglycan and a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. This protein functions as an integral membrane component, playing a role in cell proliferation, cell migration, and cell-matrix interactions through its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. In rabbits, syndecan 1 is encoded by the SDC1 gene. Syndecan 1 may have similar functions in rabbitsand other mammalians, including regulation of extracellular signaling, promotion of receptor complex formation, regulation of ligand turnover, and involvement in wound healing
