Description
Complement Component 5a is a pro-inflammatory polypeptide that is produced during the activation of the complement cascade of serum proteins in response to foreign surfaces such as microorganisms and tissue damaged by physical or chemical injury. C5a interacts with the receptor protein C5a Receptor 1 (C5aR1) on the surface of target cells such as macrophages, neutrophils, and endothelial cells. In pigs, it is encoded by the C5A gene
