Description

Interleukin-1 alpha is a cytokine found constitutively within nearly all resting non-hematopoietic cells and plays a crucial role in inflammation, linking the innate and adaptive immune systems. When it binds to its receptor IL1R1 along with the accessory protein IL1RAP, it forms a high-affinity interleukin-1 receptor complex. This signaling process involves the recruitment of adapter molecules like MYD88, IRAK1, or IRAK4, leading to the activation of NF-kappa-B and the three MAPK pathways: p38, p42/p44, and JNK. In rabbits, it is encoded by the IL1A gene
