Bone morphogenetic protein 6 (BMP6) is a growth factor within the TGF-beta superfamily, essential for various developmental processes, including cartilage and bone formation. It also plays a crucial role in regulating HAMP/hepcidin expression and iron metabolism by acting as a ligand for hemojuvelin (HJV).
